Everyday, patients in Maryland receive excellent care. Maryland eCare makes that care better and brings it closer to home.

The eCare Program

Because ICU patient conditions can change very quickly, this system provides enhanced patient safety and improves care.  Connected to patients and on-site staff by voice, video and data, remote intensivists and nurses closely watch patient conditions.  Minute-by-minute care instantly detects changes in patient condition, allowing remote staff to alert and work cohesively with on-site staff.

Maryland eCare's remote monitoring center is based at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and is a strong example of the state's collaborative approach to medicine and technology that increases access to specialized care.

For patients: Maryland eCare improves care and enhances patient safety, complementing local staff and care procedures already in place.

For families: Maryland eCare brings 24-7 critical care combining remote physicians and nurses with on-site staff.

For physicians and nurses: Maryland eCare provides access to intensivisits off-hours.  Attending physicians rest easy knowing their patients will have access to supplemental specialized care when they need it.
